London Transport Museum

The London Transport Museum (London Transportation Museum) exhibits the development of London’s and the UK’s transport systems. It traces the journey from four-wheeled carriages in the 1820s to two-wheeled ones, and then to modern buses, trains, subways, and taxis, offering a comprehensive look at the changes in transportation methods. The museum features real buses and trams on display, allowing visitors to sit in the driver’s seat and experience how these vehicles operate. There are also many specially designed interactive exhibits.

The museum divides the visit route into 14 exhibition zones. At the entrance, you can pick up a Kid Zones map—get a different stamp for each zone you visit, making it a great souvenir. Overall, this museum is quite suitable for children. Don’t miss the wide range of related books in the museum shop, as well as fun souvenirs like subway-map boxer shorts, socks, and more. The most famous items are posters by contemporary artists.

At the end of 2007, the newly renovated London Transport Museum reopened, vividly recounting over 100 years of transformation as London evolved from a city full of horse-drawn carriages to one dominated by automobiles. The museum traces the journey from four-wheeled carriages in 1820 to two-wheeled ones, and then to modern buses, trains, subways, and taxis, showcasing the evolution of various transportation modes with actual exhibits and detailed descriptions.
