London Transport Museum

The London Transport Museum is located in Covent Garden in the British capital of London. Established in 1980, it is a museum themed around the development of public transportation in London. From September 2005 to the autumn of 2007, the museum was temporarily closed to undergo major renovation work. The renovations were completed in 2007, and the museum reopened on November 22, 2007. In addition to the main museum building, the London Transport Museum also has a branch in Acton called Acton Depot.

The main building occupied by the London Transport Museum was originally a flower market building, constructed in 1872 as an elegant industrial structure from the Victorian era. Between 1978 and 1979, the building underwent extensive renovations and was completed in 1980, becoming the main site of the London Transport Museum.

The London Transport Museum houses a large collection of public transportation vehicles from different eras, including a variety of buses, taxis, trolleybuses, trams, and even railway carriages. Other exhibits include posters, reference books, staff uniforms, and more. Due to limited space in the main museum building, not all exhibits can be displayed onsite. The vast majority of the collection is housed at the Acton Depot branch, located west of central London. Covering an area of 6,000 square feet, the depot holds over 370,000 items, with many large exhibits displayed there.
