Lyceum Theatre

The Lyceum Theatre is located in London's West End in the United Kingdom and is part of the West End theatre district. It opened to the public in 1834 and was designed by architect Samuel Beazley. This theatre is unique because it features a balcony suspended in front of the stalls. In 1914, the theatre was almost entirely rebuilt and decorated in the Rococo architectural style, though it retained the façade and portico originally designed by Samuel Beazley.

During the 1960s and 1970s, the Lyceum Theatre became one of London’s most renowned venues for rock concerts, attracting fans of rock music. Between 1994 and 1996, the theatre underwent renovation, featuring a red and gold color scheme that enhanced its charm and allure. The interior was redesigned in a modern style. Since 1999, the Lyceum Theatre has been the original venue for the musical *The Lion King*, which went on to achieve global acclaim and become one of the world’s most beloved musicals.
