London Design Museum

Located near Tower Bridge, the London Design Museum is situated among the brown-brick buildings on the south bank of the River Thames. This small white building serves as an interactive platform for the design world and a showcase for creative trends. The London Design Museum primarily exhibits influential design works, as well as displays that allow us ordinary visitors to touch.

The area where the London Design Museum now stands was originally a dock, with nearby buildings serving as warehouses a century ago. The museum building itself was once a banana storage warehouse, but after a major redesign by the architects of the Conran Design Group, it was transformed into a white, internationally styled modern structure, which opened to the public in 1989. The museum has been praised as the custodian of British design culture for its collection and exhibition of modern and contemporary design, and has earned acclaim from the international community. Currently, the London Design Museum welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year, attracting not only professionals and design students but also many members of the public interested in creativity.

Outside the main body of the museum building is a transparent exhibition space known as the Design Box, measuring approximately 3 cubic meters. The ground floor houses the ticket office, a shop selling design-related books and items, and a café with views of the Thames. The second and third floors of the Design Museum are the main exhibition areas, while the fourth floor is typically used for special exhibitions.
