Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial is a large memorial and sculpture complex located in London, UK, built in 1911.

The monument is situated in front of Buckingham Palace at the southwestern end of The Mall. Its central feature is the main monument, with a large white marble seated statue of Queen Victoria at the base, along with statues of the angels of Justice and Truth; the top is adorned with a gilded statue of Victory and two attendant figures; the main monument is surrounded by a base consisting of steps and a fountain; the base is made of 2,300 tons of white marble, with a group of bronze lion sculptures at each of its four corners, one of which was gifted by the people of New Zealand. The overall decoration of the monument emphasizes nautical themes, echoing the Admiralty Arch at the opposite end of The Mall.

The monument is adorned with flower beds around its perimeter, and the entire area is known as the "Queen's Gardens." The front (northeast side) of Queen's Gardens faces The Mall, with St. James's Park to the right front, and the Australia Gate to the right. The back (southwest side) is Buckingham Palace; to the left is the Canada Gate, with Green Park behind it; and the left front is St. James's Palace.
