Every late March, the famous Keukenhof Park in the Netherlands proudly showcases over six million flowers in full bloom. A dazzling array of tulips, saffron, hyacinths, and daffodils eagerly herald the arrival of spring.

The Dutch take immense pride in their tulips, which burst into vibrant competition—pink-purple, bright yellow, soft red, pure white—as if an endless, richly colored floral carpet is sprawled passionately across the land, impossible to ignore. In addition to the colorful outdoor fields, the exhibition halls also host a variety of flower shows, horticultural demonstrations, as well as art and photography displays.

Moreover, the design of the themed gardens serves as a source of inspiration for gardening enthusiasts planning their own gardens. There are also special activities designed for children, such as adventure trails, garden mazes, and petting zoos.

The current site of Keukenhof was once a hunting ground in the 15th century, where various edible plants were grown for the castle kitchen. The name “Keukenhof” means “kitchen garden.” At the suggestion of the mayor of Lisse and some bulb growers and exporters, the first open-air flower exhibition was held in 1949. Later, the exhibition evolved into an annual event that attracts a large number of visitors from around the world.

The year 2009 marked Keukenhof’s 60th anniversary, and the park organized a rich variety of special events. The Queen of the Netherlands also attended the opening ceremony.

From 【Amsterdam】: Take a train to Haarlem first, then take bus 50 or 51 from the train station to Lisse, and transfer to shuttle bus 57 to reach the garden. The total journey takes about 45 minutes.

From 【The Hague】: Take a train to Leiden first, then take bus 54 from the train station directly to the garden. The total journey takes about 1 hour.
