Magere Brug
Introduction This is a wooden drawbridge spanning the Amstel River. The version seen today is a faithful replica of the original and is also the city’s most minimalist bridge. The bridge features two white pedestrian gates leading to Church Street; its name comes from two ladies from the 17th century—Mager & Mager.
It is one of the most photographed sights and a favorite on postcards. Strolling along the river and admiring the bridge from afar offers a unique charm.
