Rijksmuseum Amsterdam is the largest museum in the Netherlands. With its grand palace-style architecture, it houses a vast collection of world-renowned art treasures. The museum’s most notable collection is the Dutch paintings from the 17th-century "Golden Age," including artistic masterpieces by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Frans Hals, and Jan Steen.

Established in 1808, the museum features over 260 exhibition rooms, divided into sections for paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, Dutch history, Asian art, and prints. Among these, the painting section is the largest and the core of the museum. It primarily showcases works from the 17th-century Dutch school, such as Rembrandt’s *The Night Watch* and *Portrait of a Woman (The Mother)*, Johannes Vermeer’s *Woman Reading a Letter* and *The Alley*, as well as outstanding works by Frans Hals. These pieces offer a comprehensive overview of the development of Dutch painting. The decorative arts section includes furniture, ceramics, metalwork, glassware, and textiles from Europe dating from the 12th to the 20th century. The Asian art section features prized collections such as Chinese porcelain, Japanese screens and swords, and bronze statues of the Hindu god Shiva from Indonesia. The prints section houses some of Europe’s finest prints, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, and posters, including works by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt’s sketches, over 1,000 etchings, and Japanese ukiyo-e prints.
