Rembrandt Square is one of Amsterdam's most important public squares, named after the Netherlands’ greatest historical painter—Rembrandt, who was also one of the most outstanding artists of 17th-century Europe. Once a butter market, Rembrandt Square is now famous for its distinctive nightlife and is also a well-known tourist attraction.

The square is lined with bars and cafés on both sides, with a statue of the painter Rembrandt in the center. In 2006, 20 bronze sculptures were erected on the square, depicting characters from Rembrandt’s famous painting "The Night Watch." The subtle lighting and candlelight give traditional cafés an old-world charm. In summer, many cafés set up outdoor seating. Around Rembrandt Square, there is a variety of clubs, bars, hotels, and coffee shops. When the lively night arrives, it becomes the perfect time to enjoy the city’s nightlife.

Strolling through Rembrandt Square, you can hear people singing Dutch folk songs—loud, bright, and incredibly beautiful. People sing and rejoice on this land, forgetting their worries and sorrows.
