Forlì is located in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, serving as the capital of the Province of Forlì-Cesena. Situated along the Via Emilia and near the Montone River, it is also an important agricultural center. This city is the birthplace of the Renaissance painter Melozzo da Forlì and the historian Flavio Biondo, and also hosts a campus of the University of Bologna.

Forlì boasts numerous buildings of historical, architectural, and artistic significance. In the city center’s Piazza Aurelio Saffi stands a statue of the Italian politician Aurelio Saffi, along with monasteries and other fine architecture. The Forlì Art Gallery features works by the Renaissance painter Melozzo.
