Modena

Modena is located on the southern bank of the Po River in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region. It is an ancient city and the capital of the Province of Modena. As a historic city, it was once the seat of an archbishop and is now known as the “Engine Capital.” Many renowned Italian sports car manufacturers, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, and Maserati, have factories here. Additionally, the prestigious University of Modena and Reggio Emilia has a campus in the city.

Modena is a well-known historical and cultural city in Italy. The Cathedral, Ghirlandina Tower, and Piazza Grande in the city center have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Ducal Palace, built starting in 1634 in the Baroque style, now houses a military museum and a precious library. The Estense Gallery features works by Tintoretto, Paolo Veronese, and others, with the most famous pieces being Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s sculptures and Diego Velázquez’s oil paintings.

The Museum of Medieval and Modern Art, the Museum of the Risorgimento, and the Museum of Ceramics and Ethnography are all important destinations for learning about the local history, art, and archaeological discoveries.
