Accademia Gallery

Introduction   This gallery houses sculptures by Michelangelo and paintings from the Florentine school, the most famous of which is "David," displayed here as Michelangelo’s original work.

The "Slaves" (Schiavi) are two statues created to decorate the tomb of Pope Julius II but were never finished.

Other works include the "San Matteo," the "Pietà di Palestrina," and pieces by Botticelli, among others. The second floor features altarpieces from the 14th and 15th centuries.
