Introduction Via dell'Abbondanza (Via dell'Abbondanza) was once the busiest street in Pompeii and still preserves the appearance of its bustling past. The stone-paved street is lined with charming old buildings, such as the Fullonica di Stefano, where remnants of stone laundry tubs remain, and taverns with counters stacked with wine jars. The walls of these taverns still bear inscriptions such as: “Innkeeper, you will pay for your tricks—you served us water but kept the good wine for yourself.”
