Introduction: The Church of San Lorenzo is the family chapel of the Medici dynasty, consisting of three spaces from different eras and architectural styles (the Old Sacristy built by Brunelleschi, the New Sacristy by Michelangelo, and the 17th-century Chapel of the Princes). The Old Sacristy is in the style of early Renaissance Neoclassicism, eschewing superfluous decoration and exuding an elegant and serene atmosphere.

To enter the New Sacristy, you need to go around to the Medici Chapels at the back of the church, where nine statues by Michelangelo are housed.

Climbing the elegant courtyard stairs designed by Michelangelo leads to the second floor, which houses the Laurentian Library, containing 10,000 ancient books collected by the Medici family over generations.
