Scuola Grande di San Giorgio
Introduction The Scuola Grande di San Giorgio was established in 1451 as the confraternity house of the Dalmatians along the Adriatic coast. The frescoes surrounding the hall on the first floor were painted by Carpaccio between 1502 and 1507, depicting the lives of saints popular among locals such as Saint George, Saint Tryphon, and Saint Ciriaco. Among them, the most famous is “Saint George Slaying the Dragon,” located to the left of the altar. Transportation Take water bus line 1 and get off at the S. Zaccaria stop. Ticket/Opening Hours €3. Opening hours: 9:30–12:30, 15:30–18:30. (Closed on Mondays)
