Caffè Florian is a café in Venice, Italy, located in the Procuratie Nuove on St. Mark's Square. Opened on December 29, 1720, it is one of the oldest continuously operating cafés. Its name comes from the original owner, Floriano Francesco.

The café has an elegant setting that once attracted many notable figures, including Goethe, Byron, Proust, and Dickens, making it a gathering place for people from all social classes. Caffè Florian features several iconic rooms: the Hall of the Illustrious showcases portraits of ten famous Venetians, including Marco Polo and Titian; the Senate Room’s frescoes depict scenes from the worlds of art and science, with the theme “Progress and Civilization Leading the World”; the Chinese Room and Oriental Room draw inspiration from the Far East; the Hall of the Four Seasons or Mirror Room is adorned with women representing the four seasons; and the Liberty Room was added in the early 20th century.

As time passes, nearly 300 years have gone by and much has changed, but Caffè Florian still retains the charm of the early 18th century, with its elegant and classic ambiance that captivates visitors. Sitting in the seat once occupied by Goethe, resting while admiring Canaletto’s landscape paintings—depicting the view from inside the café toward St. Mark’s Basilica and the bell tower, which remain much the same today—you may feel as if you've stepped through time. That’s why many say there may be no more desirable café in the world than Caffè Florian in Venice.
