Snail Palace is located in Venice, the water city of Italy. It is a small palace renowned for its external spiral staircase. The rotating stairs, layer upon layer, resemble little houses on a snail’s back — hence the name Snail Palace. In fact, in French, “colimaçon” means snail.

The history of Snail Palace dates back to the 15th century. Designed and built in 1499 by Giovanni Candi, it boasts a truly unique exterior. The palace has five levels above and below ground, featuring not only a spiral staircase but also magnificent arcades. Visitors can climb the spiral staircase to the top and enjoy an unobstructed view of Venice’s beautiful scenery.
