As is well known, Peugeot Automobiles is a renowned and historic French car manufacturer. The Peugeot Founding History Museum is a museum dedicated to the legacy of the Peugeot automobile brand. Established in 1988 by members of the Peugeot family, it is located in Sochaux, in the Doubs department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France — the very place where the Peugeot brothers first started their business in the early 19th century.

At the Peugeot Founding History Museum, visitors can find not only all the cars produced by Peugeot since 1890, but also a wide range of products that have nothing to do with automobiles. Historically, Peugeot manufactured not just cars, but also a variety of tools: saws, coffee grinders, pepper mills, watch springs, bicycles, and even steel crinolines that 19th-century women used to enhance their figures. All these items have a place in the museum, displayed within a remarkably cohesive environment.

The concept behind the Peugeot Founding History Museum is to present different car models within their corresponding eras. As visitors approach each display pod, an automated system activates, immersing them for several minutes in an audiovisual journey through history. There are eight main era pods, each showcasing vehicles from their respective time periods. These beautifully designed time capsules serve as a link between past and present, demonstrating over a century of the Peugeot brand’s endurance, modernity, and vitality. They also reveal how Peugeot’s current brand philosophy stems from the brand’s dynamic and enduring foundation.
