Château de Gratot is located in the Gratot area of the Lower Normandy region in France, just a few kilometers from the English Channel. It is the ruins of a grand medieval castle.

The Château de Gratot was first built in the 14th century and underwent continuous changes and expansions until the 18th century. It was established by the Counts of Gratot and was sold in 1771. The construction of the castle showcases various architectural styles, with the most recent structure being a pavilion built in the 18th century. Starting from the 19th century, the castle gradually fell into neglect and was even used as a feed storage by local farmers; it was completely abandoned in the 20th century. From 1968 onward, thanks to the dedicated efforts of a volunteer team, the castle has once again entered a glorious new era.

The real restoration work of the castle began in the late 1960s and 1970s. Several tons of rubble were removed from the wine cellar and ground floor, and the castle was thoroughly cleaned. The two tall towers of the castle were restored and fitted with wooden roofs. Historical documents and 19th-century murals indicate that the castle is a relic of Romantic-style architecture. The 18th-century pavilion was fully restored, with the addition of a roof, floors, stairs, windows, and electricity, making it suitable for exhibitions and cultural events. The most recent restoration efforts have focused on the former gardens of the castle, and the colorful gardens have added even more charm to this historic site.

Today, the Château de Gratot has been listed as a historical monument by the French Ministry of Culture and is open to the public year-round, attracting nearly ten thousand visitors each year.
