Lens is a commune and industrial city in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France, in the Pas-de-Calais department. It is also one of the major cities in the Picardie linguistic area.

Lens is a young and vibrant city — the Louvre-Lens Museum, designed by Japanese and American design firms, opened in December 2012. It is an art museum and textile museum that showcases numerous works from the Louvre’s collection, attracting 700,000 visitors in its first year. The city center features many exquisite houses, old squares, and shops of all sizes, while wide sidewalks provide comfortable shopping space for bustling crowds. The Lens Cathedral, stadium, temporary exhibitions, and beautiful parks are also worth visiting.
