Surrounded by mountains formed from a volcanic crater, St. George's is the capital of Grenada and also the country’s political, cultural, and economic center. Thanks to its mild tropical climate, it is an excellent region for growing spices and is well known for producing nutmeg, as well as cocoa beans and vanilla.

The annual Carnival kicks off in the second week of August in St. George's. This festival celebrates the emancipation of slaves and is a grand event, with a festive atmosphere that infects everyone.
