Introduction

Among the many attractions in downtown Vancouver, Gastown is a must-visit for tourists. In Gastown, this world’s first steam clock is located at the intersection of Water St. and Cambie St. It has now become a landmark of Gastown and a popular photo spot for visitors.　This steam clock primarily uses underground steam to power the clock’s mechanism. Every fifteen minutes, steam emerges from beneath the ground. The steam escaping from under the clock’s dome creates a distinctive “chuff-chuff” whistling sound, which is quite amusing. However, as the clock has aged, its timekeeping is no longer accurate. But the whistling sound and the puffing white steam remain a fascinating sight that draws visitors. Transportation

It’s a 5-minute walk from downtown to Gastown, or you can take Bus Line 1 and get off at the Water St. stop.
