Canada Ski Museum

The Canada Ski Museum is located in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. It was founded in 1971 by a group of skiing enthusiasts and volunteers who, recognizing the rapid growth of skiing in recent years, were not only inspired to collect skiing-related items but also passionate about gathering stories associated with the sport. The museum was thereby founded.

The collection of skiing artifacts and touching stories at the Canada Ski Museum has made it one of the world’s most notable ski museums. In the early days of the museum, Smith-Johannsen donated several of his own medals, and since then, the collection has continued to grow in both artifacts and narratives. Today, the museum houses countless photographs, medals, trophies, skis, ski poles, ski suits, and more—all documenting the history and culture of skiing in Canada. In 1982, the museum established the Canadian Ski Hall of Fame, showcasing over 140 individuals who have made significant contributions to skiing in Canada throughout history.

In addition to indoor exhibitions, the Canada Ski Museum also hosts a variety of exhibitions and events. It has established a skiing club and organizes activities such as the Ski Culture Festival and Ski Heritage Day.
