Introduction The village of Moses Spring is said to be “Beth-peor” from the Bible, the location of Moses’ tomb. Legend has it that after Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt and wandered in the wilderness without water, he struck a rock with his staff, causing water to flow from the solid stone, providing drink for three hundred thousand Israelites. Moses Spring is also the water source for the ancient city of Petra, which is nestled among mountains and canyons and serves as a naturally fortified stronghold. However, the Roman army discovered that the city’s only water supply came from Moses Spring outside the city walls, so they cut off the water supply, leading the city's residents to surrender.
