Dana Nature Reserve
Introduction The Dana Nature Reserve was established by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature to protect and study local plant and animal species. According to recent surveys, this relatively small area is home to 703 plant species, 45 mammal species, 300 invertebrate species, 2 amphibian species, 36 reptile species, and 215 bird species, many of which are close to extinction.
Accommodation: Dana Village has the Dana Guesthouse, which offers rooms with observation balconies overlooking the beauty of the reserve. Tel: (03) 2270497. The Visitor Centre and the Reserve Administration are both located within the Dana Guesthouse. Tours: Guided tours of Dana are available daily in the morning and evening, either by vehicle or on foot. Transport: Transportation to Dana is not very convenient. You can hire a car from Wadi Musa or Aqaba, or include it as a stop on a journey between Amman, Karak, and Petra.
