Shouchang Temple

Shouchang Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Taiyuan City.

Shouchang Temple is located in the western part of DaHan Village, Donghuangshui Town, Yangqu County. Its founding date is unknown, but the existing main structures date back to the Ming Dynasty.

The entire temple complex faces south and has a two-courtyard layout, measuring 25 meters in width from east to west and 44.89 meters in length from north to south, covering an area of approximately 1,122 square meters. Along the central axis are the foundation of the Offering Hall and the Main Hall, with side halls on both sides in the front courtyard.

Offering Hall: Originally a three-bay structure, only the platform foundation and parts of the earthen wall remain.

Main Hall: Built on a brick foundation, 0.9 meters high. The hall spans approximately 14.6 meters in width and 9.2 meters in depth, with a floor area of about 134 square meters. It features three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging gable roof, a five-rafter frame without a porch, and bracket sets on the columns. The column-top bracket sets are well-preserved. The hall's wooden structure is visible in many areas. The roof is covered with green-glazed tiles, and the architectural details are distinctive.

Side Halls of the Front Courtyard: Built on stone foundations about 1 meter high, each hall has three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging gable roof and a barrel-tile roof. The original fittings have been modified. The front eave roof of the west side hall has partially collapsed, with an area of about 10 square meters.
