The Sixi Site

The Sixi Site is a cultural heritage site protected by the Taiyuan Municipal Government.

The Sixi Site is located on the terraces east of the Nitung River, between Guichao Village and Sixi Village in Nitun Town, Yangqu County. It stretches approximately 140 meters from east to west and about 700 meters from north to south, covering a total area of around 98,000 square meters. It contains cultural remains from the Neolithic Age (Miaodigou, late Yangshao, and late Longshan periods), the Xia Dynasty, and the Warring States period. A relatively rich array of surface artifacts has been collected, including fragments of black-painted red pottery bowls with curved triangular patterns from the Miaodigou type, rims of plain red pottery jars and brown pottery pointed-bottom bottle rims from the Yangshao culture, rope-patterned gray pottery li tripod leg fragments and polished double-bellied gray-brown pottery bowl rim fragments from the late Longshan culture, as well as plain gourd-shaped bottle rims and gray pottery li tripod leg fragments from the Xia Dynasty, and rope-patterned gray pottery jar rim fragments from the Warring States period. In 2000, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage site by the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government.
