Yangqu Jade Emperor Temple

The Yangqu Jade Emperor Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Jade Emperor Temple is located in the northwest corner of Jiuzhuang Village, Yangxing Township, Yangqu County. Its founding date is unknown, but it was renovated during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The existing main hall is a structure from the Qing Dynasty. The temple faces south and has a single-courtyard layout, measuring 24.63 meters east-west and 31.9 meters north-south, covering an area of 153 square meters. Except for the main hall, all other structures in the temple were newly built between 2001 and 2005. The main hall stands on a brick foundation, which is 12.03 meters wide, 9.48 meters deep, and 0.54 meters high. It features a three-bay facade and a five-rafter depth, with a single-eave hanging gable roof and a six-rafter front-porch framework. The column-top brackets have five treads with double upward scrolls, and there are two sets of bracket arms per bay. The central bay has a six-panel lattice door, while the side bays have lattice windows. In front of the hall, there are two bluestone steles under the porch, one being a commemorative stele from the 13th year of the Yongzheng reign in the Qing Dynasty (1735), and the other an anonymous merit stele. To the west of the newly built drum tower stands a stele from the 48th year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty (1783), recording the renovation of the Jade Emperor and Gods Temple. On April 16, 2003, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit by the Taiyuan Municipal People's Government.
