Red Revolutionary Site – Former Residence of Bai Yincui: The former residence of Bai Yincui is located in Sixi Village, Nitun Town, Yangqu County.

The area features high mountains, lush forests, abundant water sources, vast grazing slopes, and fresh air. Its specialty, "Baimazhang Millet," is renowned for its golden color and rich nutrition. The "Guoguang" apples are ministry-rated premium products; Zhongbing crisp pears and Guichao Fuji apples are also highly praised. The small walnuts of Nitun are tender and delicious, considered among the finest nuts. Scenic spots such as the famous Yaya Mountain and Heilong Cave boast beautiful landscapes and pleasant scenery. In recent years, Nitun Town has focused on key attractions like the "Three Zang Temple," "Ximen Manor," and "Xigou Fruit Ridge," striving to develop three major tourism brands: "Cultural, Natural and Folklore Tours," "Leisure and Vacation Tours," and "Agricultural Sightseeing and Picking Tours." It has become a shining pearl in Yangqu’s distinctive tourism offerings.

In July 1939, Hong Xinghua, the daughter of Hong Xuezhi and Zhang Wen, was born. Soon after, Hong Xuezhi led the third battalion of the Anti-Japanese Military and Political University to the Taihang Mountain anti-Japanese front with the main detachment of the university. When the troops moved into the Japanese-occupied area of Yangqu County, in order to facilitate the march, Luo Ruiqing, president of the Anti-Japanese University, persuaded Zhang Wen to give her daughter to a local family. Hong Xuezhi and Zhang Wen handed their daughter over to the Ren Baowu family in Xiyu Village. The Ren couple lived in very difficult conditions and had no breast milk, so they transferred the child to the Bai Fusheng family. As Bai Fusheng’s wife also had insufficient milk, the baby was then sent to the Wang Ying and Bai Yincui couple in Sixi Village. Bai Yincui and her husband named the child Honghong. At the time of adopting Honghong, Bai Yincui’s youngest son was still breastfeeding. Concerned that there wouldn’t be enough milk for both children, and in order to protect this child of the revolution, Bai Yincui resolutely arranged for her own young son to be adopted by another family. In 1942, during one of the most difficult periods of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Sixi Village was frequently harassed by Japanese puppet troops. To ensure Honghong’s safety, Bai Yincui took the girl back to her hometown, Dongfangshan Village, where she had stronger community support. To raise Honghong well, Bai Yincui sent her eldest son, who was only 13 years old, to work as a laborer elsewhere. At home, she always prioritized Honghong for food and clothing. She raised Honghong until she was 12 years old.

On May 27, 1951, Zhang Wen, wife of General Hong Xuezhi, accompanied by comrades from the Shanxi Military District, arrived in Sixi Village, Yangqu County. After being earnestly persuaded by Bai Yincui, Honghong bid farewell to her adoptive parents and returned to her biological parents. At that time, Hong Xuezhi, who was on the Korean battlefield, learned that his daughter Xinghua had been found. He immediately wrote a letter to Bai Yincui: “It is you who nurtured Xinghua with your heart and milk, and it is you who taught Xinghua the noble virtues of the working people. My wife Zhang Wen, our daughter Honghong, and I will forever remember your name and your great kindness to Xinghua.”

Sixi Village: Located in Nitun Town, Yangqu County, Sixi Village has over 960 households and a population of more than 2,900. The village covers an area of over 40,000 mu, including more than 6,300 mu of arable land and over 4,000 mu of land returned to forest. It is the largest natural village in the county.
