Martyr Li Lianshou’s Tomb is a cultural tourism attraction and a classic red tourism site.

Martyr Li Lianshou’s Tomb is located east of Liangzhuang Village, Beixiaodian Township, Yangqu County. Li Lianshou (1916–1943) was a native of Liangzhuang Village, Beixiaodian Township, Yangqu County. At the age of 12, he attended Xiaoweiying Primary School in Taiyuan while living with his uncle, who was a merchant there. In 1931, he was admitted to Taiyuan National Normal School, and in 1935, he enrolled at Shanghai University to study steel smelting. He graduated in 1937 and was assigned to work as a technician at the Taiyuan Ironworks. In November 1937, he returned to his hometown and established a battlefield mobilization committee. After 1940, Li Lianshou successively served as the head of public security, finance, and construction departments under the Western Yangqu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government. In July of the lunar calendar in 1943, Li Lianshou went to Longwangtang Village to collect grain and fodder but was captured by the Japanese army due to betrayal by a traitor and was imprisoned in the Taiyuan Japanese Army Headquarters prison. In prison, Li Lianshou endured severe torture and mental torment from the enemy. However, he remained steadfast and unyielding, writing the following lines on the prison wall: “On the twenty-third of July, disaster struck me; day after day I was sent to the Hong unit; for days I had only pickled barley and no water; all I could smell was stench as I slept in ‘freedom’.” In August of the lunar calendar in 1944, the 27-year-old Li Lianshou died in prison after being tortured by the enemy. After his death, his family brought his remains back to his hometown and buried him in the ancestral cemetery.

Beixiaodian Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Yangqu County. The Beixiaodian Commune was established in 1961 and reorganized as a township in 1984. It is located in the northern part of the county, 60 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 140.8 square kilometers, it has a population of 3,000. The Xi’an Highway passes through the township. It administers 13 village committees: Beixiaodian, Liangzhuang, Dabu, Manjing, Shentanggou, Fanjiagou, Jiangjunzhuang, Shizhuang, Haiziwan, Jian’gan, Duozi, Liugu, and Anjiazhuang.
