The former site of the Yangqu County Party Committee and County Government is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Yangqu County Party Committee and County Government is located on Nanxiang in Yuanshang Village, Dayu Town, Yangqu County, with a construction area of 500 square meters.

During the War of Resistance Against Japan, the eastern and western mountains of Yangqu County were part of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Anti-Japanese Base Area and the Northwestern Shanxi (Shanxi-Suiyuan) Anti-Japanese Base Area, respectively. In February 1940, divided by the Tongpu Railway, the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Yangqu County Anti-Japanese Democratic Subprefecture (commonly referred to as East Yangqu County) was established east of the railway, and was later renamed the East Yangqu County Anti-Japanese Democratic Government in the same year. It was headquartered in Mahuanggou, Wenquan Township, present-day Yangqu County, and was under the jurisdiction of the First Special District of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Border Region. The Shanxi-Suiyuan Yangqu County Anti-Japanese Democratic Government (commonly referred to as West Yangqu County) was established west of the Tongpu Railway, with its government located in Shizi Village, Geshang Township, present-day Gujiao City, and was under the jurisdiction of the Eighth Special District of the Northwestern Shanxi region. On August 1, 1948, the Taiyuan Regional Party Committee and Regional Administrative Office were established (later renamed the Jinzhong Regional Party Committee and Jinzhong Regional Administrative Office). To better support the Battle of Taiyuan’s Liberation, East and West Yangqu Counties were merged. Hua Guofeng served as the Secretary of the merged Communist Party Committee of Yangqu County, and Zhang Tianhuai as the County Magistrate. The merged Communist Party Committee of Yangqu County was under the First Prefectural Committee of the Taiyuan (Jinzhong) Regional Party Committee, and the Yangqu County Government was under the First Special District of the Taiyuan (Jinzhong) Administrative Office. The Party Committee and County Government were stationed in Yuanshang Village. On September 12 of the same year, they moved to Xinzhuang Village.

The golden soft millet produced in Jinjiagang, Dayu Town, has been awarded the Shanxi Provincial Quality Medal.
