The former site of the field hospital for the Taiyuan Liberation Campaign is located in villages such as Xipanwei, Heshangzui, Dongpanwei, Xiluoyin, Nanzheng Village, and Dongwanshou in Donghuangshui Town, Yangqu County. After the conclusion of the Jinzhong Campaign in July 1948, the 7th, 10th, and 12th Brigades of the 7th Column of the Northwest Field Army, the Independent 3rd Brigade, the 2nd Garrison Brigade of the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region, and the Independent 1st Brigade of the Jinzhong Military District, among other units, successively moved into Yangqu and were stationed across dozens of villages including Donghuangshui and Xidian. Subsequently, the field hospitals of the troops were also relocated to Yangqu. In six villages—Xipanwei, Heshangzui, Dongpanwei, Xiluoyin, Nanzheng Village, and Dongwanshou—there are 316 former hospital buildings and 18 cave dwellings, all originally local villagers’ houses, which are largely well-preserved.

Donghuangshui Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Yangqu County. Established as Donghuangshui Commune in 1959 and upgraded to a town in 1984. It is located in the eastern part of the county, 10 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 164.2 square kilometers with a population of 16,000, it is traversed by the Yangdong Highway.
