Pregnant Maiden Lake is situated on Pregnant Maiden Island in Langkawi, Kedah. It is the second largest lake in Langkawi and also the island’s largest freshwater lake, with crystal-clear emerald waters that are truly a feast for the eyes. Its name originates from a legend about a lovely fairy princess who married a mortal prince. Soon after giving birth to their first child, the baby tragically died, plunging the princess into deep sorrow and despair. She buried her child in the crystal-clear waters of this lake. Before returning to her heavenly abode, she cast a divine spell over the lake, blessing it so that any woman unable to conceive would be able to become pregnant after bathing in its waters. Hence, this magical lake came to be known as Pregnant Maiden Lake.
