Established on August 26, 1995, and covering an area of 6.2 acres, Langkawi Underwater World is one of the largest freshwater aquariums in Southeast Asia. It has grown into a key attraction in Langkawi, attracting numerous visitors from both home and abroad. This aquarium combines education, entertainment, and knowledge, aiming to raise public awareness about marine life conservation.

Langkawi Underwater World showcases a wide variety of freshwater and marine fish and sea creatures, featuring approximately 500 species and over 4,000 individual marine organisms. The facility includes a 15-meter-long walk-through tunnel and more than 100 tanks, allowing visitors to observe over 4,000 underwater creatures as they stroll through. Among the unique animals on display is the leafy seadragon, whose body is adorned with short, pale yellow “leaves” as it floats gracefully in the water. Such rare and peculiar marine species can only be found in the waters near Langkawi. Thanks to the region’s well-preserved natural environment, these extraordinary creatures continue to thrive just as they did millions of years ago.

Langkawi Underwater World is a colorful and vibrant paradise that appeals to both adults and children. Kids not only get to see fascinating marine life but also gain extensive knowledge about ocean species. In addition, there is a 3D theater to enhance the sensory experience for visitors.
