Pulau Singa Besar is located in the northwest of Langkawi, covering an area of approximately 636 hectares. It is a small island with a well-preserved ecosystem and picturesque scenery. There is also a little story behind how it got its name. Legend has it that in ancient times, a royal envoy came to the island in search of aromatic wood when he suddenly spotted a giant lion. Frightened by the encounter, he named the island Pulau Singa Besar.
