Taiyuan Children's Park

After the Xinhai Revolution, Dr. Sun Yat-sen visited Taiyuan and toured this park. For a period of time, it was renamed “Zhongshan Park.” After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was consistently called “People’s Park.” It wasn’t until 1982 that it was renamed “Children’s Park.”

The park covers an area of 119,000 square meters, including a water surface area of 40,000 square meters and a building area of 9,000 square meters. The park features pavilions, bridges, towers, rockeries, and more. It also houses a library, exhibition hall, planetarium, calligraphy stele corridor, flower stands, flower stands, as well as a 14-tier glazed pagoda with dense eaves, offering visitors opportunities for sightseeing, learning, and recreation. Children’s Park is located by Haizi Bian in downtown Taiyuan and was originally named People’s Park. Historically, it was known as Wenying Lake. During the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, pavilions and towers were built here, trees and flowers planted, making it a place for leisure. By the end of the Qing Dynasty, it was turned into a public park and named “Wenying Lake Park.”
