Taiyuan Forest of Stone Tablets Park is a national AA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

They say Shanxi boasts beautiful scenery, with rice fragrance wafting along both banks of the Fen River. When the 1990s arrived, an intense aroma of ink and culture drifted from the east bank of the Fen River—a comprehensive tourist attraction dedicated to collecting and displaying fine calligraphic works from the Ming and Qing dynasties: the Forest of Stone Tablets Park. The construction of the park was part of the Taiyuan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government's practical projects for the city’s residents in 1990 and 1995. With a total investment of 6.76 million yuan, it stands as one of the important symbols of the province’s cultural development reaching new heights.

The Forest of Stone Tablets Park is located on the east bank of the Fen River, west of Jinsong Road, stretching from Kang Le Street in the north to Shuangta West Street in the south, situated 800 meters south of Shanxi International Building on Yingze Street, adjacent to Fenhe Park. The park covers an area of 13,728 m², with a building area of 4,577.01 m², 489.6 meters of stele corridors, 5,800 m² of lawns, and 1,100 m² of water surface. It houses a total of 2,134 plants, including 400 flowers of 88 varieties, achieving a green space ratio and plant preservation rate of 52.7% and 98%, respectively. It is a newly developed, specialized cultural park that has begun to take shape.

The Forest of Stone Tablets Park primarily functions as a venue for collection, display, appreciation, social education, and tourism, integrating cultural leisure. Among the many forest of steles and garden attractions across China, it stands out as unique, earning accolades such as “a peerless treasure of Shanxi” and “an excellent traditional education platform.” It has been designated as a “Moral Education Base” by the provincial and municipal education commissions. To date, the park has collected 418 stone tablets of various kinds—an epitome of the vitality of traditional Chinese culture.
