The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taiyuan is a municipal cultural relics protection unit.

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is a key cultural relics protection unit in Taiyuan, located at the northern end of Taiyuan Children's Park. Originally built in 1905 during the 31st year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty as the Industrial Promotion Exhibition Hall, also known as the Qinya Building. It faces south and is a two-story brick-and-wood structure in the flush-gable style. Both floors feature eaves and corridors, with seven bays in width and three bays in depth, covering an area of 326 square meters. On September 18, 1912, Dr. Sun Yat-sen visited Taiyuan for an inspection. On the afternoon of September 19, he delivered a speech from the balcony on the second floor of the Qinya Building in Wenying Park to audiences from all walks of life in Taiyuan, highly praising the Shanxi Armed Uprising during the Xinhai Revolution, which had a significant impact nationwide. To commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s historic visit to Shanxi, in May 1986, the Qinya Building was converted into the “Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.”

The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall is located by Wenying Lake in Taiyuan. The building was constructed during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty and served as a venue for displaying local specialties and handicrafts of Shanxi during the late Qing and Republican periods, hence the name “Industrial Promotion Exhibition Hall.”

In 1912, following Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s speech here advocating for industrial revitalization, it was renamed the “Qinya Building.” In 1986, it became the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The memorial hall is a small two-story red-pillared, blue-tiled building facing south, with a double-decker brick-and-wood flush-gable structure supported by six red pillars that form upper and lower corridors. Inside the hall are the plaque inscribed with “The World Belongs to All,” a sign marking “the spot where Dr. Sun Yat-sen delivered his speech from the balcony,” a half-length bronze statue of Sun Yat-sen, along with photos and artifacts depicting Dr. Sun’s life and historical activities related to the Xinhai Revolution in Shanxi. It is the only venue in Shanxi Province reflecting both Dr. Sun Yat-sen and the history of the Xinhai Revolution in Shanxi, and serves as a provincial-level patriotic education base.
