Wenying Park

Wenying Park is the oldest park in Taiyuan, with a history of 600 years. Located in the city center, it is small and exquisite, with Wenying Lake occupying nearly half of its area. The park also houses the Peng Zhen Memorial Hall, small corridors, small monuments, and more. It is also the site of one of Taiyuan’s Eight Scenic Spots, "Xunshui Misty Waves."

Attraction Introduction

Taiyuan Children's Park, originally named People's Park and also known as Wenying Park, is located by Haizi Bian in the central area of Taiyuan. As the oldest park in the city, it boasts a 600-year history and has undergone several name changes since the Ming Dynasty.

The park is close to May 1st Square in the city center. Within its grounds, it features pavilions, bridges, towers, rockeries, a library, exhibition halls, an astronomy museum, a calligraphy stele corridor, flower stands, flower stands, and a 14-story glazed pagoda with dense eaves. It serves as both a great leisure spot for local residents and a cultural venue where people can appreciate history.

The park is rich in cultural significance, with numerous historical relics and profound historical stories. Existing structures within the park include the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (Quanye Building), the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, the glazed pagoda, Zhuangyuan Bridge, Chongde Lu Tie, the former site of the Provincial No. 1 Middle School, and the only wooden-structured Wanzi Tower in China. The evolution of Wenying Lake reflects the transformation of Taiyuan itself.
