The Wanzi Building is a historically significant landmark in Taiyuan. It was originally built as a library by Yan Xishan in the spring of 1937, before the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan, to commemorate his father, Yan Ziming. Intended to be named the "Ziming Library," it is also known by that name. However, shortly after its construction, Taiyuan fell to Japanese occupation, and the building was repurposed by the invaders.
