SONJE Art Center

The SONJE Art Center is located in Jakgeodong, Jongno District, Seoul, and is an art exhibition venue that combines a gallery, small theater, café, and art shop. Established in 1995, the center originally began as a renovated traditional Korean house. Three years later, to expand its scale and better accommodate visitors, a new six-story modern art museum was built at the current location.

Designed by architect Kim Jong-sung, the SONJE Art Center features a structure with three underground levels and three above-ground levels, housing an exhibition hall, lobby, small theater, restaurant, and cinema. The exhibition spaces are independently designed to allow flexible layouts according to different themes. Visitors can enjoy a variety of uniquely themed exhibitions. Additionally, by ascending the transparent glass staircase to the third floor and looking down from the exhibition hall, one can take in the traditional Korean houses of Samcheong-dong and beautiful city views, making it a great spot to enjoy a panoramic view of the city.

In addition to exhibitions, the SONJE Art Center is committed to providing opportunities for both established and emerging artists, helping them grow and succeed. Visitors can view works by many up-and-coming creators here.
