Kashiwazaki City is a city in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, facing the Sea of Japan. It is the sixth most populous city in Niigata Prefecture and the most populous among all cities in the world that host nuclear power plants. The Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant within its jurisdiction is the largest nuclear power plant in the world.

Among Japanese cities along the Sea of Japan, Kashiwazaki is the closest to the capital economic zone. It is connected to various economic zones such as the Capital Region and the Kansai Region via highways, the Shinkansen, and national routes. Kashiwazaki Port plays an important role as the largest international trade port in the Sea of Japan area.
