Nagaoka City is the second-largest city in Niigata Prefecture and a designated Special City. It hosts industries such as general machinery, electronics, precision machinery, and textiles, and is home to Nagaoka University of Technology. Designated as a technology-intensive city in 1984, it is now striving for balanced development in production, research, education, and housing.
