Tongariro National Park is a unique volcanic park, featuring 15 volcanic craters, including three famous active volcanoes: Mount Tongariro, Mount Ngauruhoe, and Mount Ruapehu. The majestic mountain ranges and the spectacular volcanic activity attract visitors from all over the world. The park presents a volcanic landscape, with silvery-gray paths paved with volcanic ash winding through the mountains, and snow-capped peaks that are truly breathtaking.

Lush natural forests surround the undulating mountains and flowery grasslands. The shimmering lakes, reminiscent of West Lake in Hangzhou, China, feature islands within the lakes and vice versa, enhanced by human touches that add to their charm. Among the park’s 15 volcanic craters, the diverse and ever-changing volcanic phenomena offer a fresh experience at every site. From a distance, fumaroles emit billowing steam and mist. Up close, you can see boiling streams shooting high with a roaring sound, water columns sparkling brilliantly under the sun, making visitors feel as if they are in a fairyland. In winter, visitors can also take a dip in natural hot spring pools, enjoying a refreshing and soothing experience.
