Bason Botanic Gardens

Bason Botanic Gardens is located in Whanganui, in the Manawatu-Wanganui region. Established in 1966 and covering an area of 25 hectares, it is the most important and outstanding botanical garden in the region, having been rated as the best botanical garden in the area multiple times.

The gardens are divided into several themed gardens according to the growing environments of the plants, featuring collections such as the Conifer Collection, Millennium Hill, Native Trees and Wetlands, and the Mediterranean Garden. Specific plants include camellias, daffodils, magnolias, podocarpus, roses, aloe arborescens, aloe vera, agave, and winged elm. The vibrant colors of the flowers transform the gardens into a paradise on earth — a place without worries, noise, or stress, only quietly blooming blossoms and towering trees. With the company of the flowers, being alone in the gardens no longer feels lonely, boring, or wasted.

Strolling through the gardens, you’ll be surrounded by rich fragrances that lift your mood. Watching the dancing butterflies and industrious bees as they gather nectar will have you involuntarily swaying along with them.
