Fiordland National Park

Fiordland National Park, also translated as Fjordland National Park, is located in the southwestern part of New Zealand's South Island, covering an area of 12,500 square kilometers. It is the largest of the country's 14 national parks. The park is an important component of the Te Wahipounamu World Heritage site.

Situated on a high mountain fault line at the junction of the Pacific Plate, the Australian Plate, and the Indian Ocean Plate, Fiordland National Park is a seismically active area. The park boasts a diverse array of unique landscapes, including fjords, rocky coasts, cliffs, alpine lakes, and numerous waterfalls. Moreover, with a moist climate, roughly two-thirds of the park is covered by pristine beech and podocarp forests. The forests are also home to rare bird species such as the kakapo—the world’s only flightless parrot—and the kiwi.

Fiordland National Park features towering mountains, sheer cliffs, cascading waterfalls, glistening glaciers, and crystal-clear waters, presenting a breathtaking landscape that resembles a fairyland on earth. Iconic attractions such as Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound, and Lake Te Anau attract millions of visitors each year to witness the wonders crafted by nature.
