Hobbiton is located in the small town of Matamata in the Waikato region and is world-renowned for being the filming location of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. In 1998, director Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema discovered through their search that the Alexander family's ranch and farmland were the ideal settings for the films. After renovating the area, they began filming.

The beautiful farm, towering ancient pines, and lush green meadows present a quintessential medieval landscape. The entire farm and its surrounding pristine environment remain untouched by 20th-century human civilization, preserving their most perfect state. The verdant dairy pastures around the area were transformed into the idyllic Shire from Middle-earth. Although most of the movie set was dismantled after filming concluded, the remaining parts are still enough to let your imagination run wild about hobbit life. Visitors to Hobbiton can admire the magical hobbit holes, elegant gardens, and towering ancient trees. Strolling through this picturesque and expansive countryside feels like stepping into a breathtaking medieval world.

In recent years, the elegance, tranquility, and beauty of Hobbiton have attracted numerous film productions to shoot here, with movie stars frequently visiting for filming, as well as drawing many newlyweds who come to enjoy the paradise-like scenery.
