Otari-Wilton's Bush is located in the suburbs of Wellington, with a history dating back to 1860. Covering an area of 105 hectares, it is New Zealand’s only botanical garden dedicated primarily to the preservation of native forest. Many of New Zealand’s endangered tree species and plants can be found here.

Otari-Wilton's Bush features 100 hectares of native bush and 5 hectares of gardens, encompassing over 1,200 different species. Among them are more than 150 species of flowering plants and 180 species of trees that are severely threatened. The oldest trees in Wellington can be found in the garden, including a rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum) that is over 800 years old. Since 2001, volunteers and staff have planted thousands of trees and plants, contributing to the further development of the garden. A 75-meter-long bush walkway bridge allows visitors to view a wide variety of trees and flowers along the way.

In addition to trees and plants, the garden is also home to animals, insects, and birds, including tūī, fantails, silvereyes, kingfishers, fernbirds, and moreporks. These creatures sing daily among the trees, bringing life and vibrancy to the tranquil forest.
