New Zealand Olympic Museum

The New Zealand Olympic Museum is located at Queens Wharf in Wellington, New Zealand. Established in 1998, it primarily showcases the Olympic Movement to visitors, promotes Olympic values, and spreads the Olympic spirit to attract more public participation.

New Zealand first participated in the Olympics as a team in 1908, and the establishment of the museum has helped preserve and promote New Zealand’s valuable Olympic heritage. Many of the exhibits were donated by the Olympic Committee or athletes, reflecting the country’s Olympic history and culture. The museum collects and displays items from every Olympic Games since 1930, including competition uniforms, equipment, audiovisual and photographic materials from New Zealand’s Olympic teams, as well as clothing and shoes worn by outstanding athletes. Among the highlights is a beautifully crafted traditional Māori-style wool cloak, gifted to the New Zealand Olympic Committee in 2004 by the Queen of the Māori tribe. The museum offers free admission and is open from 10:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday, and closed on Saturdays.
