Otago
The rural service town of Otago, located on the northern bank of the Otago River in New Zealand, has historically been an important area for the Māori people. The town and its surrounding areas feature several Māori meeting grounds, as well as a Māori university. One of the main attractions of Otago is its proximity to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing trails. At Otago Fox, you’ll find picnic, swimming, and camping areas. Hiking routes range from 30-minute walks to multi-day treks (with several trampers’ huts in the mountains). The expansive and windy Otago Coast is great for fitness running and walking.
